Vermiculite is a versatile, multi-function ingredient for the home gardener. It can be used as part of a seed starting mix, as an ingredient for homemade potting soil mixes, to loosen heavy soils and prevent compaction, to aerate soils, promote root growth, root plant cuttings, store bulbs, improve soil moisture retention, and more.
When used in containers and gardens, vermiculite creates air channels to allow soil to breathe, which promotes vigorous plant growth.
